Review: There are a number of tools I have for my old Mercedes that I know I will use maybe once every year or longer. But when you need them you need them.

Review: After reading reviews I went with the well-known Dewalt 20v pump. I believe in the saying “you get what you pay for”. Yea, there are many other less expensive pumps out there, but I need reliability when you are in a tight spot and demand on dependability. To test out the pump, I deflated my PU Truck tire to about 3 lbs. I turned on the pump and it had no problem inflating the tire to 38psi. It took about 15 minutes and stopped with 0.5 lbs of the setpoint. The battery I used wasn’t the smallest one, but a step up, 20v Max 4Ah, I believe. And the battery wasn’t fully charged when I started the test. It was at 2 green bars to start and was at 1 green bar when I was done. Most people will be using this just to inflate one tire, so for me it passes the test. And if the Dewalt battery was dead, (because you didn’t keep it charged, DUMMY), just connect the included cable into the cigarette lighter port in your car, and away you go. The pump was just slightly warm, which tells me it wasn’t overstressing the unit at all. Heat will kill most portable air pumps, sooner, not later. It also has a small light, so it will come in handy at night when hooking up to the tire!

Review: I bought this to replace a 30+ year old Black & Decker Air Station inflator. Should have done this years ago! The unit is easy to operate and really convenient when you use a 20v battery, since there is no AC cord to drag around as you switch from tire to tire. The gauge seems very accurate and it’s nice that the machine shuts off as soon as the desired pressure is reached. You can also use this just to check the air pressure instead of relying on those cheap, inaccurate pressure readers. It inflates the tire pretty quickly, and it is far quieter than my old inflator. Just be aware that although it says 3 power sources (20 battery, 12v car adapter, and 110 v), you need to purchase the 110 volt adapter (and 20v battery) separately. It comes with the 12v car adapter.

Review: Review is for DEWALT 20V MAX* Cordless Tire Inflator, Tool Only (DCC020IB). Ok, it is made by Dewalt so expectations are high. The inflator has exceeded my expectations. This is a REALLY nice inflator. This by far exceeds the abilities of the smaller inflator versions that you find in many of the SuperStores. Yes, those versions have their place, but the Dewalt version definitely out performs them. I am using a Dewalt 20 Volt XR 5 AMP battery on this product. I live in Colorado at 6500 ft, so many inflator products struggle to perform at this altitude. The Dewalt performed perfectly. I don’t think it even cared it was at high altitude. I have a large Toyota SUV with large tires. As with many of the vehicles at this altitude, topping up the tire pressure during our cold weather months is a must. Many of my tires were 8-10 PSI low and the Dewalt inflator was able to top them off to 33 PSI in just a 1 or 2 minutes or less for each tire. Lessor inflators would have taken a lot more time per tire, mostly because of the high altitude. After topping off the tires, the battery still read 3 bars. Hardly used. The ability to set the PSI you want to inflate to is very helpful. It avoids having to disconnect the host, check pressure, connect hose and inflate more. I have not used all features of the Dewalt Inflator, but I expect it will perform just fine. It comes with a long 12 Volt cord, stored in the unit, to use with car receptacle. Requires a 12V/10A rating. It has the ability to be used on 120V AC current, but the AC cord must be purchased separately. One thing to remember, you should not store the unit with battery in areas where temperatures will drop below freezing. It will freeze the battery – not a good thing. I would highly recommend this inflator.
